Sailaja Sikharam: From Engineer to Head of Content and Royalty Systems Sailaja Sikharam joined us in 2005 as a software development engineer, back when our offices were located in Wayne, New Jersey. Over the last two decades, as Audible’s content, services, employees, and global customer base have grown, Sikharam has grown with us, taking on expanded management and directorial roles.

Audible Epics: As Audible Evolved Over 25 Years, so did Oren Levin’s Tech Career Audible was only a few years old in July 2000, when Oren Levin joined us as a developer. “When I interviewed, Audible had half a floor in the building, and by the time I was hired, we had a whole floor.” Eventually we moved our headquarters from Wayne, New Jersey, to Newark, where the Audible campus now comprises multiple buildings, plus offices all over the world.

Audible Epics: Alexander Galkin Reflects on 27 Years of Technological Innovation at Audible Over his impressive 27 years with Audible, Senior Software Development Engineer Alexander Galkin has had a front-row seat to the evolution of mobile technology, audiobooks and listening. He first joined us in 1998, when Audible was a startup. “I think I was employee number 27,” he muses. Although Alexander started as an engineer and has remained an engineer for his entire career, he’s continually learning new technologies and pushing boundaries for the benefit of Audible customers.

Kailee Ayyar is Creating More Opportunities for Theater Professionals Like Herself Just two years ago, Dead Outlaw was still an in-progress project, the brainchild of Tony Award winner David Yazbek (The Band’s Visit) and his writing partner Erik Della Penna. Even though they didn’t know exactly what the show was yet, the duo decided to showcase the songs at a Manhattan cabaret. Some members of the Audible Theater team were there that night, including Kailee Ayyar, who went back to her manager, (then-head of Audible Theater) Kate Navin, and said, “There’s definitely something there.”

Get to know Bob Campbell, Head of Content Analytics and Data Science Bob Campbell, Audible’s Head of Content Analytics and Data Science, joined us in November 2014, after an early foray into finance analytics showed him how much he preferred the “analytics” part. At the time, Audible had a new analytics team of fewer than a dozen people, and Bob was enticed by the opportunity to “get in on the ground floor” by being part of a small, but fast-growing team that got to work with Amazon-powered data analytics capabilities.

Bolong joined us in 2013 after finishing a graduate degree in financial engineering. At first, he thought he would go into quantitative modeling after school, but he didn’t feel strongly connected to it. Instead he went to work for a leading tech company for two years, growing his knowledge of business and marketing.

Get to know Rachel Wiltshire, Associate Corporate Counsel, UK Rachel Wiltshire, Audible’s Associate Corporate Counsel, works in our London hub with our legal team, assisting with a range of issues, from regulatory management and compliance to negotiating contracts and UK production legal queries, IP and copyright law, and so on. After spending her early career exploring financial services, tech start-ups, publishing and teaching, Rachel decided to train to be a lawyer (a solicitor, in UK terms) because it encompassed all the things she enjoyed about those previous roles.

Listening is at the Heart of Diana Dapito’s 20-Year Career at Audible Today, people around the world know Audible as a leading provider and producer of audio storytelling with 900,000 titles in our catalog, thousands of Originals, and millions of customers. But when Diana Dapito joined us in 2004, it was still early days for digitizing audiobooks, magazines, speeches, and more, so people could carry and access them on portable devices. Dapito’s first role involved adding a handful of new titles to the catalog each week.

When he first joined Audible, in 2015 at our Berlin hub, he was managing data science for our service in the EU, with a team of one data scientist.
