ABOUT THIS ROLE
As Corporate Counsel you will be a key member of Audible’s European and wider global legal teams. You will work closely with legal and business colleagues to support Audible’s current and future service across Germany, UK, France, Italy, and Spain, including supporting audio content development, production, acquisition, and distribution deals. You will work on a variety of complicated projects and sophisticated transactions, and will provide strategic and legal advice across a wide range of issues, including intellectual property, digital media, and regulatory compliance.

As a Corporate Counsel, you will...
- Structure, draft, negotiate, and review a wide variety of complex commercial agreements, including with authors, writers, publishers, performers, talent agents, and production service providers
- Provide counsel on original content productions, including on intellectual property matters (e.g., chain of title, trademarks, copyrights), clearances (e.g., defamation, rights of publicity and privacy), guild issues, and other matters
- Coordinate and interact with business affairs, finance, operations, and other stakeholders throughout the content acquisition, production, and distribution lifecycle
- Provide legal support on product and service launches and initiatives
- Maintain or develop standard contract forms, policies and processes
- Monitor and lead our response to regulatory developments impacting our European operations and initiatives
- Instruct and manage external counsel

Basic Qualifications

- German qualified lawyer
- Trained and qualified at an international law firm
- 5+ years post-qualification experience, including experience supporting a digital media or content business as a member of or on secondment to an in-house team
- Business fluency in both written and spoken German and English

Preferred Qualifications

- Demonstrates strong drafting, negotiation, organizational, analytical and communication skills
- Effectively prioritizes and runs a large number of projects at once in a fast-moving environment
- Collaborates and builds relationships with lawyers and business owners
- Experience in the book publishing industry, in the film and TV industry, or of music licensing
- Proficiency in an additional European language (in particular Spanish, French, Italian)
