ABOUT THIS ROLE
The Director of Business Affairs will play a pivotal role in shaping the negotiation strategy and managing the business relationships for the audio Entertainment Originals portfolio. In this role you will collaborate with creative executives and top tier partners in audio, TV, film, music and theater as they work to deliver Audible customers high-quality original content for adaptation on the air, screen and stage. You will report into to the Head of Business Affairs, Entertainment Originals.

You are a valued strategic partner with a history of structuring and closing deals in the entertainment and media industries and are ready to assist the global Audible team in negotiating terms that benefit Audible and delights its customers.

As a Director of Business Affairs, you will...
- Serve as lead negotiator on deals for creators, producers and rights-holders of original audio content for the development, acquisition, and production of entertainment originals
- Evaluate, structure, negotiate, and implement a wide range of agreements independently, while partnering with legal to finalize the full long-form agreements
- Define strategies, expectations, and priorities to ensure team actions align with company success
- Partner with leadership and legal teams to identify and address upfront possible business and legal risks associated with proposed productions, while championing best practices
- Collaborate with internal teams and leadership on the development of strategies for new content initiatives
- Manage, prioritize, and execute high volume deal flow against specific metrics
- Track and communicate deal terms within the organization and provide for first line of enforcement of deal terms, if necessary
- Grow and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential entertainment industry partners such as film/TV studios, celebrities, production studios, writers, agents, managers, and publishers
- Build relationships and represent the entertainment deals’ team to various internal stakeholders including Editorial, Creative, Finance, BI, Marketing, PR, Content Partnerships, and Content Operations teams.
- Work cross-functionally across Audible and other Amazon affiliates (e.g., Amazon Music, Amazon Publishing, etc.) to execute against complex deals and partnership opportunities
- Identify and prepare projects for internal support and valuation by presenting data, preparing budgets, P&Ls, and drafting proposed deal terms - Passionately work on the evolution and consumption of audio content and storytelling

Basic Qualifications

- Experience in negotiating deals in entertainment
- Experience effectively communicating complex concepts through written and verbal communication
- Experience effectively managing a substantial and time-sensitive workload
- Experience in the audio, theater, television, motion picture and/or music industries
- Experience and/or understanding of business models in audio, digital and traditional media

Preferred Qualifications

- J.D., or MBA
- Experience in content negotiation, acquisition or business development
- Experience communicating complex concepts clearly and persuasively to different audiences
- Dedication to acting as a collaborative team player within the Business Affairs group and across all teams at Audible.
- Passionate about storytelling, the evolution of audio, and consuming audio content
- Ability to operate in a high-energy, high-intensity and rapidly evolving environment
- Willingness to question old norms before applying knowledge gained through experience to new contexts
- Ability to strategize and think creatively with problem-solving skills
- Ability to work autonomously while exercising sound judgment and focusing on excellence
- Organization, prioritization, and time management skills

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
