ABOUT THE ROLE
The Production Specialist manages the end-to-end production lifecycle of audiobooks, audio content, and Audible Originals for the Japan market, from planning and pre-production through recording, post-production, quality assurance, and final delivery.
You will own the successful completion of assigned titles, ensuring they meet defined quality standards, budgets, schedules, and production requirements. You will drive production in collaboration with internal teams including Content, Content Operations, Business Affairs, Legal, Finance, Marketing, and Metadata, as well as external partners.
You will proactively leverage AI and digital tools to streamline and automate production planning, progress tracking, quality assurance, reporting, and information sharing.
As a Production Specialist you will...
- Define production plans, schedules, budgets, and delivery specifications for assigned titles, and manage the entire process from kickoff through final delivery
- Verify that all prerequisites for production are in place, including manuscripts, scripts, talent information, recording requirements, rights restrictions, and approvals
- Select or coordinate external studios, production companies, narrators, directors, and creators, and define each party's roles, schedules, and deliverables
- Manage progress across all production stages including recording, editing, mixing, mastering, quality assurance, and corrections
- Ensure all deliverables meet Audible's audio quality standards and title-specific production requirements
- Manage the entire production budget, including cost projections and variance tracking, coordinating with Finance as needed
- Proactively identify production risks, delays, and capacity constraints, develop corrective actions, and communicate status to stakeholders in a timely manner
- Support Content Operations in ensuring that contracts, rights, vendor registration, metadata, and final audio are in place for distribution readiness
- Maintain production partner records, tracking performance, quality, cost, and capacity to strengthen the production network
- Leverage AI and digital tools to automate and optimize production planning, progress tracking, quality assurance, and reporting, while ensuring compliance with copyright, confidentiality, and internal policies
- Collaborate with domestic and international teams to adopt globally used production tools, workflows, and best practices for the Japan market

Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional experience in audiobook production, audio content, publishing, broadcasting, film/video, music, entertainment, digital media, content production, or a related industry
- Experience managing the full production lifecycle across multiple content titles, from planning through recording, post-production, quality assurance, and delivery
- Project management skills with experience managing multiple titles, vendors, and deadlines in parallel
- Experience coordinating and negotiating with third-party vendors and internal stakeholders
- Experience managing budgets, schedules, quality, risks, and deliverables using data-driven approaches
- Experience independently organizing information, setting priorities, and executing solutions when facing production issues or uncertain situations
- Experience leveraging AI technologies (including generative AI) and digital tools to automate, streamline, or improve business processes, or demonstrated practical ability to do so
- Professional proficiency in Japanese, with the ability to understand contracts and production requirements, coordinate with stakeholders, and resolve issues
- Ability to communicate in English for email, document review, meetings, and coordination with international teams
