ABOUT THIS ROLE
We are seeking a highly motivated Manager, Awareness Media to join our team to assist with Awareness/Brand and Content media planning, reporting, analysis and budget management for Japan. Based in Sydney, the ideal candidate is a passionate and organized individual with strong communication & project management skills, an eye for detail and an analytical mindset. We are looking for someone that has experience working in a media role for Japan or APAC, as knowledge of the Japanese media landscape is required. Japanese language skills are preferred.

You will report to the Director: Awareness Media APAC and partner closely with our JP based agencies to develop effective media plans that grow our brand awareness, consideration and engagement in Japan, meaning effective collaboration with the Brand & Content Marketing, PR and SAMBA teams to ensure a holistic communications approach is also a crucial part of your role.

As the Manager, Awareness Media, you will...
- Support the Director: Awareness Media APAC to develop and execute multi-channel Awareness plans that fuel new member growth. Key channels include (but are not limited to) TV, BVOD/CTV, Out-of-Home, Premium OLV, Social, Audio and Influencers
- Demonstrate expertise in the strategic role that the Awareness channels play in delivering to our business objectives, and proficiency in the planning and buying of these channels
- Be the primary POC on all executional components of our Awareness media plans, spanning implementation briefs to the media agency, managing agency response workflows, media plan approvals, and any required co-ordination between Awareness and Performance plans.
- Help drive full funnel thinking, in partnership with the Performance Team
- Co-ordinate test & learn plan execution across our Awareness investment to better understand marketing ROI
- Foster a positive and constructive relationship with our JP media agency teams as well as key local media partners such as Google, Meta, Yahoo and LINE
- Act as the main local interface between Awareness Media and Brand & Content marketing teams, and to manage campaign creative requirements & delivery
- Lead campaign reporting for Awareness media campaigns, and assist the broader Marketing & Media teams with recommendations on how to improve reporting processes
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of the Japan media landscape and an ability to capitalize on any new opportunities
- Play an active role in all relevant local JP business meetings (eg: WIPs, QBRs, etc) and proactively contribute where media expertise is required
- Own competitor monitoring & reporting
- With finance, own the Awareness media financial process, from PO approvals to monthly budget reconciliation and management of vendor invoicing reviews, as well as any annual budget-setting requirements
- Collaborate with performance channel managers, finance and other stakeholders in the preparation of regular reporting, as relates to media and marketing spend
- Be the POC on any JP reporting & process deliverables from the Global media team

Basic Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree with experience in a media or marketing role
- Analytical competency, with the ability to interpret data and explain insights clearly for to the required audience
- Experienced in developing effective media plans
- Experience managing large, complex budgets
- Experience in managing day to day media agency relationships and outputs
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

Preferred Qualifications

- Capability with both Japanese & English languages
- Strong stakeholder management skills
- A keen collaborator who has a track record of influencing and driving results through persuasion
- Able to juggle multiple priorities and manage time efficiently
- Process orientated with the ability to proactively optimize ways of working
