ABOUT THIS ROLE
The Director, Publisher Relations IT/ES leads the local activities and local teams of Publisher Relations managers, coordinators to build relations, develop deal terms and run negotiations for our agreements with our publishers in Italy and Spain. As Director Publisher Relations IT/ES, you will be responsible for developing Audible GmbH’s content program and economic relationships with all Italian and Spanish book publishers and spoken word publishers. You will also be responsible for relationships, negotiations and the catalogue performance of our European audiobook publishing vendors, to help deliver the leading spoken word catalogue for our Italian and Spanish-speaking audience. The relationships will be developed in liaison with our Global and European content teams, to provide the leading spoken word audiobook catalogue for all our European audiences.

As a Director, Publisher Relations IT/ES, you will...
- Co-build and implement at the team level the transformation from country-specific teams to create a wider Content Acquisition function: implementing the new global organizational structure, developing and implementing processes to support this set-up, and training and developing the team
- Manage a team of a Publisher Relation managers and coordinators to assure excellence in deal-terms, informed editorial taste, and negotiation success for publishers in Italy and Spain
- Maintain and develop strong and productive relations with all our publishing partners for Italy and Spain while also cooperating with cross-functional teams in developing the Global Spanish expansion
- Manage and develop deal architecture, deal terms, strategic and day-to-day relations with our key providers from the book and audiobook space
- Leverage analysis of key business drivers, trends and performance indicators (customer segmentation, marketplace research, competitive analysis, publisher programs, etc.) to improve the quality and quantity of our European language catalogues by ever improving relationships to our publishing vendors
- Collaborate with global cross functional teams to develop deal strategy, formulate key terms including all related analysis, strategizing and planning for a variety of complex agreements and negotiations with global publishing vendors

Basic Qualifications

- Professional Degree (JD, MBA, M.A., M.S., or other post-graduate degree) in relevant field
- 7+ years of relevant experience in international intellectual property rights licensing businesses, creating cutting edge agreements where there is no precedent, including first leadership experience
- A well-developed track record of conducting complex, high profile negotiations that rely on economic understanding and human interaction to achieve the goals of the company
- Experience in people management
- Negotiation proficiency in Italian and Spanish, in addition to English

Preferred Qualifications

- Previous work experience in book, television, film or computer game industries
- Additional language skills
- An ability to inspire trust and partnership in external content providers, and internal team members and peers through passion, charisma, bias for action and intuitive drive towards an inclusive and empathetic working environment
- Experience in professional relationship building with Book Publisher associations
- Ability to operate in a high-energy, high-intensity and rapidly evolving environment
- Ability to communicate clearly, pragmatically and persuasively, also under tight timelines, complexity and ambiguity of a global rights landscape and fast-moving business environment
- A well-developed network into key vendors in the European book publisher and agent landscape as well as a track record of gaining the trust and respect of others to lead teams in transformational, high-growth and customer-centric environments
- Strong communication skillset (verbal and written English); with the ability to effectively communicate visions, ideas, articulate the possible in a simple manner across different levels of an organization internally and externally, up to the support of the creation of C-Level presentations
- Willingness to travel for business
