ABOUT THIS ROLE
Audible is seeking a proactive, creative and enthusiastic communications professional for the role of Internal Communications Lead – Technology. The Internal Communications Lead will report to the Head of Internal Communications within Audible’s Global Corporate Affairs and will play a vital role in informing, engaging and inspiring Tech employees and supporting Tech leaders with their communications agenda.

The Internal Communications Lead will be responsible for supporting global communications initiatives for Audible with a key focus on internal and leadership communications and employee engagement across the Tech organization. This individual will help to ensure that Tech leadership at all levels has the tools, information and training they need to cascade information to their teams on a regular basis. This is a collaborative role to coordinate Tech communications efforts, collect and share best practices and success stories, and provide strategic communications counsel and implementation support to Tech leaders.

ABOUT YOU
You are a self-starter who has hands-on experience working within technology teams and are able to build effective working relationships across the Tech organization and across other functional teams. You know how to “connect the dots.” You are able to work successfully in a team environment but can individually react with appropriate urgency to situations that require a quick turnaround is essential for the role. You have passion for helping to foster employee engagement as well as an enthusiasm for Audible’s disruptive, high-energy technology-driven culture. You have a high level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information.

As Internal Communications Lead, you will...
  • Serve as the Communications Business Partner to the Chief Technology Officer and other Tech leaders, including participating in strategy sessions, providing support for presentations, message development and other internal and external outreach and best practice sharing, as well as “connecting the dots” within the Tech team and cross-functionally.
  • Partner with Audible’s Internal Communications and HR teams, as well as Tech leadership, to develop and implement an overall communications strategy, approach, processes and protocols that drive communication and engagement within Tech, and help to further connect employees with our Tech and overall Company priorities and activities.
  • Support the development and implementation of a comprehensive Tech communications plan for the remainder of 2022 and 2023, in alignment with our overall global HR and internal communications strategy and plans, which includes our progress against our Spectrum & Belonging goals and internal mobility efforts.
  • Establish a clear cadence and calendar for all Tech communications programming, in coordination with the HR Business Partner and Internal Communications team, and contribute to overall global internal communications cadence and message development.
  • Partner with key Tech stakeholders to ensure the Tech intranet page on our new Intranet is current and up to date and always has new and compelling stories
  • Ensure the voice of our People Principles and our desired culture are reflected in all communications in a balanced and relevant manner.
  • Help to identify ways to measure the effectiveness of Tech communications efforts, using existing and new measurement tools.
  • Partner with Talent Attraction and senior Tech leaders to message and promote job opportunities internally and externally.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors Degree in Social Sciences or Humanities.
  • 10+ years of work experience in a communications capacity.
  • Strong expertise in internal communications, digital fluency, change management and the Tech landscape, including having worked as a communications business partner to Tech teams in previous roles.
  • Experience in a global / matrixed business environment; working in a Tech industry and or working with Tech teams and HR partnership.
  • Experience with intranet platforms, (visual concepts, graphic design or HTML).
  • Experience training Tech leaders to be more effective communicators.
  • Experience working in a multi-cultural, cross-functional environment that appreciates different perspectives and collaboration.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • MBA in Communications or Social Sciences.
  • Written communication—exceptional writing skills, strong line-editing, copyediting and proofreading skills, varies writing style to meet needs, presents data effectively.
  • Oral communication—speaks clearly and persuasively; possesses ability to engage others; listens and gets clarification; responds well to questions; actively participates in meetings.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to influence stakeholders and drive projects forward with autonomy.
  • Good understanding of internal communications and how the communications landscape relates to Tech organizations in order to drive employee engagement.
  • Capacity to work across teams at the highest levels of the Audible organization.
  • Enjoys working with people and understands discretion and diplomacy.
  • Ability to think innovatively and creatively, and change course if necessary to achieve desired results.

  • Adept at using and experimenting with communication technologies.
