Job Summary

Every day millions of people around the world choose to be more thoughtfully entertained, informed and educated by listening to fascinating stories and all forms of fictional and non-fictional content on their smartphones and other mobile devices.

Audible is looking for a Director Analytics who will help our marketing teams to figure out how to best leverage Amazon surfaces, technologies and partners to source new, highly engaged customers. The role will be based in Newark (NJ) where most of our team is, and report to a VP Marketing Analytics based in Berlin (Germany).

They will make the best of her/his skillset in Analytics, BI, predictive modeling, statistics, simulation, A/ B testing, economics to explain, quantify, predict and prescribe. They will know how to translate business goals into agile, insightful analytics. They will seek to create value for both stakeholders and customers, and will convey findings in a clear, actionable way to managers and senior leaders (up to C-level).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Lead and develop a team of analysts with BI and data science background
· Understand complex business challenges, develop hypotheses, frame them into the right Analytics (queries, models, dashboards, simulations…), and communicate the results back to the partner teams to drive marketing decisions and actions
· Lead cross-functional, high-exposure, high-stakes projects and deliver innovative, complex technical solutions to solve problems and improve business outcomes
· Build strong working relationships and develop deep partnership with the business and the leadership (e.g. CMO, CFO, CPO)
· Lead the design, development and usage of machine learning/statistical models together with partner Data Science team and ensure rigorous validation procedures and adoption
· Direct project plans and timelines to ensure projects are delivered with the highest quality and on time
· Deliver strong written and verbal communications to collaborate with and influence business partners and drive data-driven decision culture


Basic Qualifications

· MBA, MS or PhD with major in the following discipline: Analytics, Business Intelligence, Computer Science, Economics, Engineering, Data Science, Physics, Statistics
· At least 10 years of experience working on Analytics projects with a track record including successful stakeholder management and project management deliveries
· Tool stack : strong hands on with SQL, Tableau, a programming language (Python preferred)

Preferred Qualifications

· Passion for data (and fearlessness in the face of a data tsunami), coding, modeling, research design and cutting-edges algorithms
· Great communication skills - ability to think creatively and adapt the message to the audience. Can provide information to technical and non-technical stakeholders alike and guide them to confidently informed decisions.
· Outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively across teams & multiple division stakeholders
· Track record of thought leadership and outstanding expertise in the area of data science, analytics, marketing intelligence
· Customer- and business obsession, with a bias for action and a drive to create measurable value
· Willingness to engage with stakeholders (including senior stakeholders like Senior directors and VPs), enthuse them for data science benefits, and deliver in a professional, timely way
· Must be comfortable navigating complex, matrix-shaped organizations and be persuasive and caring with a wide range of diverse, cross-cultural audiences
· Exposure to AWS, Big Data a plus
· Exposure to advanced software engineering environments (version control, command line…) a plus
· Exposure to Agile way of working a plus
· Domain knowledge of comparable products (digital, retail) a plus
