ABOUT THIS ROLE
Audible’s Business Development team develops strategic partnerships that deliver compelling differentiated experiences to accelerate Audible member growth and engagement. As a key member of the business development team you will be shaping the future of Audible, leading cross functional teams and working directly with senior leaders on partnerships designed to make it easier for customers to discover and enjoy Audible premium product experiences.

The primary responsibility of the role of Business Development Strategic Partnerships Director is to drive the structuring, negotiation, and management of a broad range of strategic growth and distribution partnerships solutions requiring product and technical integrations.

As a Business Development Strategic Partnership Director, you will...
  • Work closely with Audible leadership to proactively pursue innovative growth partnerships.
  • Grow Audible by developing integrated and scalable content distribution partnership solutions.
  • Collaborate with product & engineering teams to solve, scale and streamline distribution, define and refine technical requirements during the deal stage and prioritize partners based on level of effort relative to key business objectives.
  • Develop partner solutions with third parties requiring licensing and integration of APIs, Content feeds, new audio formats, and custom product development.
  • Initiate, structure, negotiate, and close commercial agreements for digital media premium products and services to drive growth in subscriber acquisition, engagement and retention.
  • Support globalization efforts across U.S. and other Audible marketplaces.
  • Engage and collaborate with senior level partners and prospects on partnership vision, value exchange and key deliverables.
  • Lead partner valuation including research, idea generation, sourcing partner targets, strategic and financial assessment, and industry due diligence.
  • Lead partnership development, including: business case, value exchange, product requirements, financial modeling, negotiations, contract execution and integration activities.
  • Collaborate with cross functional colleagues and with partners to manage business development processes – including partner development, contract deliverables, road maps, data analytics, performance tracking and reporting.
  • Maintain a successful track record of developing, iterating, and growing tech-enabled new business initiatives.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 7+ years of experience in business development, consultative sales, strategic partnerships or an equivalent field.
  • Past experience working with senior leaders.
  • Demonstrated track record of developing, negotiating and closing strategic deals achieving strong consumer and business impact.
  • Project management experience working with product management, engineering, content and marketing teams to develop customer, operational and technology enabled solutions.
  • Experience working with content marketing, tech, product and design teams.
  • Business, Engineering or related technical background (degree or equivalent relevant work experience).

  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Self-starter attitude and ability to build rapport and trust across business functions and with new business relationships.
  • Outstanding financial, analytical, negotiating and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Proactive attitude with strong organizational skills and an ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast paced ambiguous setting.
  • MBA or equivalent graduate degree.
  • Consumer tech platform partner development -- Telco, Auto, Connected Device, Content Streaming environments.
  • Solid experience in digital media content landscape, particularly audio and video.
  • Entrepreneurial – start up business experience.
