ABOUT THIS ROLE
Senior Director, Studio Management, Audible Studios is a senior leadership role that will lead and support the cross-functional work and strategies of Audible Studios across the Content portfolio. The Senior Director, Studio Management, will report into the SVP Head of Audible Studios. The role will be based at Audible headquarters in Los Angeles, CA. In this role you will establish clear strategy and translate into pragmatic, and differentiated plans. You will develop plans that leverage data & insights to support decisions and align with others. You will shape plans based on emerging and future consumer trends and create an environment of constant improvement that encourages risk and new ideas.

ABOUT YOU
You are on the pulse of the cultural zeitgeist and bring strong instincts for content and process that will resonate and allow Audible to be nimbler in the creative space and larger dynamic media landscape. Helping to move Audible creative into new areas and introduce to new customers, wherever they choose to engage. Furthermore, you will understand how to manipulate the creative content process to ensure that it conveys a rich narrative, draws in and engages an audience and drives revenue. You naturally connect and build strong relationships with others, demonstrating strong emotional intelligence and an ability to communicate clearly and persuasively. You bring a creative approach to developing content and bringing to life new ideas that push boundaries. You challenge the status quo, but are also able to learn from the past, and you have a strong intuition, the ability to “connect the dots” and comfort with ambiguity, but uses fact-based arguments to support ideas.

As a Senior Director of Studio Management, you will...
  • Support the development, implementation and evolution of a cutting-edge content/creative strategy. In conjunction with Head of Studios to create innovative, high-quality content to reach new audiences. Continually synthesize data and evaluate strategy to align with consumers’ evolving needs. Identify where Audible should go next.
  • Drive a holistic, data driven creative plan in harmony with Audible business plan and strategic implementation across creative functions globally.
  • Work with Head of Consumer Content to manage and analyze user data and translate into actionable creative strategies. Educate and implement strategies on and with core creative and production teams.
  • Discern new audience groups to target and align creative team with talent/content targets.
  • Lay the groundwork for content portfolio vision and execution outside of Audible O&O and with an eye toward supporting nascent ‘Live’ platform.
  • Design, build and inspire a world-class Studios Organization. Support and inspire a team of creatives -- Development and Production. Reimagine and optimize organization to support current and the business needs. Identify and attract top talent to support the Audible content strategy and original content teams.
  • Create and maintain process for creative teams to align with the needs of other business units (i.e. marketing, business affairs).
  • Streamline the operations of creative teams.
  • Re-orient Audible Organization to mining its library and relationships for potential video content and vice versa.
  • Support creation and execution of closer and more productive relationships with Amazon Studios and Imdb.tv.
  • Mine competitive media entities for enticing audio rights.
  • Establish best-in-class operations and infrastructure. Develop standards and processes for all aspects of content creation and production.
  • Partner with IT and Head of Planning and Operations to design, develop, and implement new systems to streamline work flow and efficiency within the creative studio.
  • Work with Head of Planning and Operations to build data and systems architecture in support of creative strategy.
  • Creation and management of Story Department. Facilitate alignment with Bus affairs and Creative team.
  • Cultivate a culture of “one team” through communications and information sharing from the creative side of the business.
  • Drive change, growth and audience through content development. Respond to new opportunities with speed, sophistication and optimal coordination. Know where to place bets; continually identify and evaluate new original content.
  • Build the infrastructure and practices to do this continuously.
  • Synthesize external audience and content data (social, search, etc.) to inform creative strategies.
  • Target and learn new platforms to place Audible IP. Work with head of Acquisition, Talent and Partnerships to execute. (i.e. VR/AR/Autonomous Cars/Airline/Roblox/Gaming).
  • Utilize both internal and external data to build systems to target new talent partners globally.
  • Support Head of Audible Studios in “thinking big” and prioritizing strategic initiatives as s/he is focusing on the day-to-day operational details.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, or commensurate relevant experience.
  • 10+ years in content development and studio production management.
  • 10+ years in leading a content and studio production team.
  • 7+ years in media consumer insights and content management systems.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Polished and strategic leader that can articulate, influence and activate Audible’s vision for new and engaging content.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication at various levels of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Extensive knowledge of content development and studio production management.
  • Extensive knowledge of consumer insights methodologies and ability to lead a team to transform insights into strategic product plans.
  • Knowledge in content operations management from creation to delivery and proven track record in operationalizing business processes.
